Lumineers® are the newest form of porcelain veneers we provide at our San Antonio cosmetic dentistry office. They are ultra-thin, ultra-translucent porcelain veneers developed by Cerinate to help improve nearly any smile.

Lumineers are a good solution if you are suffering from problems with your smile, like teeth that are:

• Chipped
• Broken
• Discolored
• Cracked
• Worn
• Crooked

Unlike traditional porcelain veneers, Lumineers do not require that much enamel be removed.

After you consult with Dr. Hale, get your questions answered, and have a good understanding if the Lumineers procedure, Dr. Hale will take an impression of your teeth and take photographs as the basis for designing your Lumineers. For traditional veneers, a thin layer of your front teeth surfaces would have to be removed in order for the porcelain veneers to fit correctly. Since Lumineers are so thin, little or no tooth enamel needs to be removed.

All the data on your teeth and bite will be sent to a dental laboratory along with Dr. Hale’s notes and directions, so that your Lumineers can be manufactured. This takes a couple of weeks. For traditional porcelain veneers, you would have to wear temporary veneers during this time, but with Lumineers you do not. There will be a second visit for Dr. Hale to attach your Lumineers, check their fit and your bite, and make sure you feel satisfied with them.

He will use a painless etching solution on the front tooth surfaces to keep the Lumineers strongly bonded to your teeth. There will be no post-placement discomfort or sensitivity because your tooth structure was not disrupted for placement.

Your Lumineers can cope with everything your normal teeth can, so there are no eating limitations. In clinical tests, Lumineers have been shown to provide fantastic results more than 20 years after their original placement.
