What is TMD?

For many years, TMD was known by another acronym—TMJ, which actually stands for “temporomandibular joint.” This painful condition has led millions of Americans to seek relief from their medical doctors. Pain medication, massage, heat therapy and even surgery have long been the most popular treatment modalities. However, a few years ago, it came to be known that TMD was actually a disorder best treated by highly trained neuromuscular dentists, such as Dr. Hale. The Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), where Dr. Hale received his training, is the pre-eminent post-graduate training school for dentists in the entire world.
