Questions About the Pure Power Mouthguard™
San Antonio, Texas
What is TMD or TMJ?
TMD and TMJ are two acronyms for the chronic, painful disorder, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, which results from a misaligned jaw joint. Millions of Americans suffer from TMD go to their medical doctor for relief from the pain, but in actuality, a neuromuscular dentist such as San Antonio’s Dr. Brian Hale has specialized training to detect, diagnose, and treat disorders of the jaw joints. By placing the jaw in its optimal position, people suffering with TMD are given relief from a whole host of symptoms including:
- Painful headaches
- Jaw pain
- Facial pain
- Ringing in the ears
- Bruxism (tooth grinding)
- Clicking, popping noises in the jaw
- Shoulder/neck pain
What is the Pure Power Mouthguard™ and how does it help athletes?
The PPM™ is an orthotic device (mouth piece or oral appliance) that is designed to keep the jaw in its optimal position, which is the position it is while at rest. Both professional and amateur athletes from all over the globe are claiming the PPM™ enhances their strength, flexibility, range of motion, and balance. It enhances these by properly aligning an athlete’s head, neck, and jaw muscles. Optimal jaw alignment allows greater oxygen intake, better vertebral alignment, and increased muscle recruitment throughout the athlete’s body.
How do I get a PPM?
You can only receive a PPM™ after a thorough evaluation by a neuromuscular dentist who is able to prescribe these devices. Dr. Brian Hale will perform a thorough evaluation of your jaw joints and place your jaw in its optimal position using a variety of advanced neuromuscular technology. Once the optimal position of the jaw is determined, impressions of your upper and lower teeth will be made and sent to a lab, where your PPM™ will be custom-designed to fit your mouth and teeth. No two PPM™s are the same. Athletes report almost-immediate improvement in their performance.
What is the PPM Key?
This is the latest addition to the PPM™ sports mouthguard family and is an entry-level guard designed for use across the board for amateur, recreational athletes looking to enhance their performance but may not require quite the level of precision and sophistication professional athletes do. Only available through PPM™ certified dentists, this device was created with simplicity in mind. The PPM™ Key can be fitted in about fifteen minutes. Dr. Hale will conduct a series of tests to establish some baseline measurements of strength, balance, flexibility and range of motion. Impressions of your teeth are then taken, and your specifications are sent to law where your PPM™ Key will be fabricated.
